Football Puts Five on All-Middle Georgia Team, One Named GSA All-State

MACON, Ga. – Five FPD football players have been named to the Macon Telegraph’s All-Midle Georgia Football Team, while one earned a spot on the Georgia Sports Writers Association All-State Team, announced Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2014.

Seniors Palmer Haynes (OL), Noah Groover (LB), Jam Morris (WR/RB), and Jonathan Raines (DB) and junior Reggie Gantt (RB) were all selected to the All-Middle Georgia squad.

“This is a great honor for our football program,” FPD head coach Greg Moore said. “These guys understand that the team comes first and they represent their teammates and school very well. They worked hard all season long and it’s nice to see that pay off in a positive way.”

Junior punter Daniel Weaver was picked to the Georgia Sports Writers Association All-State Second Team for his play throughout the 2014 season.

The right-footed Weaver punted 17 times for the Vikings in 2014, averaging a consistent 32.1 yards per punt.

“We’re happy for Daniel,” Moore said. “Playing on the special teams can be very nerve-racking at times, especially as the punter. He’ll only get better the harder he works.”

The Vikings finished the 2014 campaign at 7-4 and advanced to the GHSA Class-A State Playoffs for a fourth consecutive season.
