FPD to Host Empty Bowls Event at Dec. 12 Home Basketball Games

MACON, Ga. – FPD will host its annual Empty Bowls Event in the lobby of the Middlebrooks Athletic Center during Friday’s scheduled home basketball games against GMC Prep on Dec. 12.

Set to begin at 6 p.m., FPD’s Empty Bowl project, now in its fourth year, is part of a national program created by the Image Render Group. The program began as a grassroots effort to raise both money and awareness in the fight to end hunger.

Each of the bowls are handmade by FPD art students in the Art Club. They are filled with homemade soups and stews and sold at the basketball games. All proceeds will benefit Macon Outreach and Daybreak Ministries.

“We are pleased to continue to raise awareness for this need in our community,” FPD head boys basketball coach Michael Walton said. “We hope a lot of folks come out to the games and to help support this effort.”
