Lady Vikings Drop to South Effingham 45-31 at SCDS Tourney

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The FPD girls basketball team dropped its fourth straight on Friday night, falling to the South Effingham Lady Mustangs 45-31 on the opening day of the Savannah Country Day School Christmas Tournament at Demere Gymnasium.

Sophomore Bailey Ruble netted a game-high 18 points, but the Lady Mustangs notched three players in double figures to earn its sixth consecutive victory.

FPD (1-4) trailed 16-10 after the first quarter and 27-21 at halftime.

The Lady Vikings hoped to take advantage in the third quarter, but neither team could score a bucket.

The Lady Mustangs (10-1) outscored the Lady Vikings 18-10 in the final eight minutes of action to claim the win.

Shandrea Leverette finished with a team-high 17 points for South Effingham, while Alissa Epling and Dionna Hartfield netted 12 and 10 points, respectively.

FPD dominated from beyond the arc, hitting eight 3-pointers to South Effingham’s three.

The Lady Vikings will look to reverse it’s current skid on Saturday, Dec. 20, taking on the host school Savannah Country Day at 5 p.m.
