Lady Vikings Claim 51-26 Region Win Over Mt. de Sales

MACON, Ga. – Sophomore Kate Patterson netted 18 points on eight made field goals and junior Sydney Reese dropped in 15 as the FPD Lady Vikings (5-11, 4-4 Reg. 7-A) completed a regular-season series sweep over the Mt. de Sales 51-26 on Tuesday night, Jan. 27 at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.

“This was a good win for our team,” FPD head coach John Griffin said. “We were able to play all of our girls. Everyone got the job done tonight.”

FPD jumped out to an early 14-7 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 27-12 at halftime.

Griffin said the big lead was due to defensive pressure up front against the Lady Cavaliers.

“We wanted to pressure their guards and try to create some problems out front for them,” Griffin said. “I thought out defensive execution led to our offensive exection.”

The Lady Vikings put the game away in the third quarter, outscoring the Lady Cavaliers 15-8 and a combined 24-14 over the final 16 minutes.

Melia Cunningham paced the Lady Cavaliers with five points. Summer Mayfield added four points in the losing effort as well.

FPD will now turn its attention to Tattnall Square Academy on Friday night, Jan. 30.

The Lady Trojans defeated the Lady Vikings 53-20 on Jan. 20 at FPD.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Tattnall’s Athletic Center Gymnasium.
