Vikings Stumble Against Tattnall at Home 51-37

MACON, Ga. – Two Vikings scored in double-figures but in the end it wasn’t enough as the visiting Tattnall Square Academy Trojans (14-2, 3-1) knocked off FPD (3-8, 0-4) 51-37 at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center on Tuesday night, Jan. 13 in GHSA Region 7-A action.

Titus Moore punched in 11 points for the Vikings while Champ Dawson finished with 10 points as FPD dropped its third straight contest.

“We hung in there all night,” FPD head coach Michael Walton said. “But we got into some bad habits and Tattnall exposed some of our weaknesses in the fourth quarter. They had some guys step up when they needed to for them.”

FPD led 10-9 at the end of the first quarter, but the Trojans bounced back to take a 25-16 lead into the locker room at the half.

“I told our guys at halftime that we needed to match their intensity,” Walton said. “We came out in the third quarter and strung together some good possessions and were within striking distance at the end of the period.”

But Tattnall’s Will Trevitt, who finished with a game-high 17 points, took control in the final minutes to lead the Trojans on a 16-11 run over the final eight minutes to capture the win.

Calvin Slaughter and Sean Brown chipped in with nine points as well for the Trojans, who picked up their third straight win.

“We are still being haunted by the little things,” Walton said. “We have to keep battling the full 32 minutes to get a win in a tough region like we are in.”

FPD will have that opportunity on Friday night, Jan. 16, traveling to Irwinton to take on the Wilkinson County Warriors in another region contest.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at The Palace.
