Football Announces 2015 Spring Practice Information

MACON, Ga. – FPD head football coach Greg Moore has announced information on upcoming spring practices for the varsity football program.

The Vikings will take the field on May 7-8 and May 11-15 in preparation for the 2015 football season.

“Spring practice is an important time for our football team,” Moore said. “It gives our staff a chance to spend some introductory time with our younger guys and it also serves as a time to remind our returning upperclassmen that the fundamental things are still the most important, so that’s where we will spend most of our time out there.”

The first three dates of spring practice (May 7-8, 11) will be for rising ninth and tenth grade players only. The upperclassmen will join in for full squad workouts beginning May 12.

“Spring is the beginning of a time for those guys who have been waiting their turn to see if they are ready to contribute yet on a Friday night,” Moore said. “Like everyone else, we graduate some seniors that will leave holes to be filled and someone is going to get a jump on filling those spots this spring.”

Prior to spring practice, a rising ninth grade parent meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Lecture Hall. All parents will meet on Monday, May 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria.

Spring practice will end on Monday, May 18 with an after school team meeting.

“We’re excited to get going again,” Moore said.

The Vikings finished the 2014 campaign at 7-4 and advanced to the GHSA Class-A State Playoffs for a fourth consecutive year.
