Lady Vikings Blast Jones County 10-0

GRAY, Ga. – The FPD Lady Vikings (2-0) poured in 10 goals on Tuesday night, Feb. 25, defeating the Jones County Lady Greyhounds in non-region action.

“We kept attacking and pressuring on the offensive end,” FPD head coach Josh Trieste said. “The more we did that, the more the goals started to fall.”

Highlighting the events of the night was senior Jane Howell, who netted four goals, two in each period, to give FPD its second win in as many tries.

FPD jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period and led by that same score at halftime.

But with 30 minutes remaining in the match, FPD’s barrage of offense really began.

The Lady Vikings added eight goals over that time span from the following players: Howell (2), Brooke Battson (2), Sara Robertson (1), Laney Elliott (1), Sadie Frame (1) and Maggie Johnston (1).

Altogether, the Lady Vikings outshot the Lady Greyhounds 22-1. FPD keeper Caylee Ann Sutton picked up one save in the winning bid.

The Lady Vikings return to the pitch on Friday, Feb. 27, hosting Tift County in a non-region match at 5:30 p.m. at the FPD Soccer Complex.
