Lady Vikings Close Out Regular Season With 32-24 Loss at GMC

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The FPD Lady Vikings (6-15) dropped their final regular season game on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 7, 32-24 to the GMC Prep Lady Bulldogs (14-10)  at the Cordell Events Center.

“It was a frustrating day for us,” FPD head coach John Griffin said. “We were not very sharp offensively and still had a chance to win the game.”

Sophomore Kate Patterson led the Lady Vikings with 11 points while junior Sydney Reese dropped in six points.

FPD trailed 13-2 at the end of the first quarter and went into the locker room facing a 20-11 deficit.

“I told the girls at halftime that we weren’t playing as a cohesive unit,” Griffin said. “I thought we came out in the second half and did a little better.”

But what appeared to be a Lady Viking comeback was negated in the fourth quarter. FPD didn’t hit a field goal in the period despite the Lady Bulldogs scoring just nine points.

Keely Murner paced GMC with 11 points and Karlie HardinG posted 10 in the win.

FPD will await word from the Region 7-A office for details on the Region 7-A Tournament next week.

Details will be announced on Sunday evening, Feb. 8, on www.fpdvikings.com.

“Hopefully we can get some out areas addressed before the Region Tournament next week,” Griffin said.
