Boys and Girls Soccer Take Down Calvary Day

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The FPD varsity boys and girls soccer teams rebounded with victories over the Calvary Day School Cavaliers on Saturday night, March 21 in non-region play.

The Vikings (6-4-1) out-dueled the Cavaliers 3-1 while the Lady Vikings (8-3) claimed a commanding 6-1 win over the Lady Cavaliers.

In the boys match, FPD faced a 1-0 deficit until senior Cole Morton tied the match with 25 minutes to play in the first period off an assist from Dane Wiggins.

Nearly 10 minutes later, Wiggins found Morton again for a goal to give the Vikings a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime.

In the second period, Spencer Ennis scored the lone goal of the half with eight minutes to play in the match to seal the win for FPD.

The Vikings controlled the game on offense, outshooting the Cavaliers 23-2 in the match.

FPD keeper Wade Snow snagged two saves in the winning bid.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings also saw a 1-0 deficit erased in a big way, scoring six unanswered goals en route to the win.

Sara Robertson scored the game-tying goal for Vikings with 23 minutes to play in the first period.

Then with 11 minutes remaining in the first half, Elizabeth Nelson put the Lady Vikings ahead for good with a goal to give FPD a 2-1 advantage.
