Girls Soccer Nets 7-1 Win Over Warner Robins in Viking Cup

MACON, Ga. – The FPD girls soccer team (4-0) cruised to a 7-1 win over the Warner Robins High School Lady Demons on the first day of the Viking Cup on Wednesday night, March 4, at the FPD Soccer Complex.

The Lady Vikings scored three goals in the first half and added four more in the second period for the win to remain unbeaten in 2015.

“I thought we had a lot of opportunities tonight and we were able to put a lot of them in the net,” FPD head coach Josh Trieste said. “I’m proud of the girls for their work tonight.”

Maggie Johnston led the Lady Vikings with a hat trick, while Elizabeth Nelson powered in two scores. Brooke Battson and Sara Robertson also added one goal each.

Jane Howell picked up four assists in the match while Maisyn Samples and Johnston were credited with one each.

The Lady Vikings controlled the possessions all evening evidenced by out-shooting the Lady Demons 28-1.

The Lady Vikings return to the pitch on Friday, March 4, hosting the Savannah Arts Academy Lady Panthers at 5:45 p.m. in the second day of the Viking Cup.
