Lady Vikings Drop Viking Cup Championship to St. Vincent’s 2-1

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity girls soccer team fell to the St. Vincent’s Academy Lady Saints 2-1 in the Viking Cup Championship Match on Saturday night, March 7, at the FPD Soccer Complex.

The Lady Vikings trailed 1-0 at halftime after Stewart scored the first goal for the Lady Saints early in the first period.

In the second half, Stewart struck for her second score of the game before FPD’s Elizabeth Nelson put the Lady Vikings on the board on an assist from Maggie Johnston with 22 minutes to play.

The Lady Saints outshot the Lady Vikings 9-7 on the night.

FPD keeper Caylee Ann Sutton picked up six saves in the loss while St. Vincents’ McBride corralled four saves.

The Lady Vikings return to action on Thursday, March 12, hosting Northside (Columbus) at 7:30 p.m. in non-region play.
