Lady Vikings Notch 1-0 Win Over Northside-Columbus

MACON, Ga. – The FPD girls soccer team (6-1) finished with hard-fought 1-0 victory over the Northside-Columbus Lady Patriots on Thursday night, March 12, at the FPD Soccer Complex in non-region play.

FPD’s Brooke Battson netted the lone goal of the contest off an assist from Laney Elliott.

“I’m thankful we came away with the win tonight,” FPD head coach Josh Trieste said. “Our defense played really well and we were able to get one goal in from Brooke.”

The Lady Vikings out-shot the Lady Patriots 10-8 on the night. FPD keeper Caylee Ann Sutton picked up six saves while Northside’s goalie Mackie tallied seven saves.

“We felt a little down after dropping our last match in the Viking Cup Championship,” Trieste said. “Our girls played hard tonight, though, and played with a purpose.”

The Lady Vikings return to action on Monday, March 16, traveling to The Lovett School at 6:30 p.m.

The First Presbyterian Day School Department of Athletics strives to build the student athlete both in the playing arena and the classroom while upholding the school’s mission statement to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory.
