Boys and Girls Soccer Sweep Brookstone

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity girls and boys soccer teams knocked off the Brookstone Cougars on Tuesday night, April 14 at the FPD Soccer Complex in Area-2 action.

In the boys match, the Vikings (8-5-2) held on for a 3-2 match victory.

Cole Morton scored FPD’s first goal on a penalty kick in the first period followed by a score from Dane Wiggins to give FPD a 2-0 advantage at halftime.

In the second period, Kevin Griggs added another FPD goal sandwiched between two Cougar goals to give the Vikings the victory.

The Vikings outshot the Cougars 13-10 on the night.

FPD keeper Dontrez Johnson snagged seven saves in the winning effort.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings (12-3) shutout the Lady Cougars 3-0.

Elizabeth Nelson and Brooke Battson each netted a goal in the first period as FPD led 2-0 at intermission.

In the second half, Sadie Frame added a score and FPD’s defense prevailed to earn its eighth shutout of 2015.

The Lady Vikings outshot the Lady Cougars 21-3.

Both soccer squads return to action on Thursday, April 16, traveling to Mount de Sales Academy for an Area-2 match.

Kickoff for the girls match is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. with the boys to follow at 7:30 p.m. at Cavalier Fields.
