Girls and Boys Soccer Shutout Mount de Sales

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity girls and boys soccer teams were in action on Thursday night, April 16 taking on the Mount de Sales Cavaliers in Area-2 action at Cavalier Fields.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings (13-3) claimed their ninth shutout of the season en route to a 6-0 victory over the Lady Cavaliers (7-5-2).

FPD scored five goals in the first period of play.

Brooke Battson and Sara Robertson each netted two goals in the win while Elizabeth Nelson and Maggie Johnston each added a goal.

Jane Howell picked up two assists on the night. Battson and Johnston each finished with one assist as well.

FPD outshot Mount de Sales 15-4.

FPD keeper Caylee Ann Sutton snagged three saves in the winning bid.

In the boys match, the Vikings (9-5-2) scored all four goals in the second period to win 4-0 over the Cavaliers (8-7).

All goals came off the foot of Kevin Griggs, including three in a five minute span late in the match.

Cole Morton assisted Griggs twice while Landon Newberry and Dane Wiggins added one assist each.

FPD outshot Mount de Sales 15-7.

The soccer teams return to action Saturday, April 18, traveling to Apalachee High School.

The girls game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. start with the boys to follow at 7 p.m.
