Three Wrestlers Land on All-Middle Georgia Team

MACON, Ga. – The Macon Telegraph released the its 2014-15 All-Middle Georgia Wrestling Team on Friday, April 17 with three Vikings earning honorable mention spots on the squad.

Sophomores Alan Carlton (160 lb.), Denson Marton (170 lb.) and Thomas McBride (285 lb.) were all recognized for their stellar play all season.

“We are really proud of these three guys for being recognized to the All-Middle Georgia Wrestling Team,” FPD head coach Ken Garvin said. “It speaks volumes of how hard they have worked and how well they represented our team all season long.”

Carlton placed first in the Area-2 Traditionals by defeating Ryan Abrahams of Strong Rock back on Jan. 31 to advance to the GHSA Sectional Competition.

Martin also had a strong showing this past season. He qualified for the GHSA State Competition by claiming fourth at the Area-2 Sectionals before falling in the consolation quarterfinals at the Macon Centreplex.

McBride took third at the Area-2 Traditionals before falling in the sectional round.

“Advancing out of Area Traditionals and Sectionals is tough,” Garvin said. “Our school is proud of the efforts of these three young men. We look forward to seeing what happens in the future with them for sure.”
