Boys Track and Field Team Takes Runner-Up at GHSA State Meet

JEFFERSON, Ga. – The FPD varsity boys track and field team came up just short in their bid for a state title over the weekend, taking second at the GHSA Class-A Private State Meet at Memorial Stadium on May 14-16.

The second place finish marks the highest since moving to the GHSA in 2010.

“I’m really proud of our guys,” FPD head coach John Griffin said. “We worked hard all year and had a lot guys set personal bests. We also had some school records broken along the way. They have nothing to be ashamed about.”

“We’ll definitely miss our seniors,” Griffin said. “They were a big part of this team. We wish them well in their future endeavors.”

FPD scored 77 points while Athens Christian posted 120.5 points, good for the state title.
