Cross Country Set for 11 Meets in 2015

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity girls and boys cross country programs have released their 2015 schedule, with 11 meets on the calendar to peak plenty of interest from Viking Nation in the fall.

“I’m very excited about this upcoming season,” FPD boys head coach Shane Hall said. “We are running in many familiar races and are looking forward to co-hosting another strong invitational with Warner Robins. The guys plan on putting in some serious miles and workouts this summer and it will be fun to see how it all pays off in the fall.”

After the traditional Preseason Banquet on August 20 in the Cafeteria on campus, FPD is officially in action on Saturday, August 29, traveling to the Wesleyan Invitational in Peachtree Corners, Ga.

The Lady Vikings and Vikings then hit the road Friday-Saturday, Sept. 4-5 for the Clara Bowl hosted at Berry College in Rome, Ga. before returning to run Macon’s annual Labor Day Road Race on Monday, Sept. 7.

Both squads will round out the month of September with the Stratford Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 15 and the FPD/Warner Robins Invite at the Georgia Children’s Home on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

October brings on more road trips for FPD. Both teams will compete at the Great American Cross Country Festival at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. on Oct. 2-3. After a week off, FPD hits the road for the Walt Disney World Classic in Orlando, Fla. on Oct. 9-12.

After a stop in Macon at the Mount de Sales Cavalier Cross Country Clash on Thursday, Oct. 15, the Lady Vikings and Vikings travel to Carrolton, GA for the Last Chance Meet on Saturday, Oct. 24.

A chance to qualify for the GHSA Class-A Private State Meet is up for grabs at the Area-1 Meet at the Georgia Children’s Home, tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 27.

The Class-A Private State Meet is Friday-Saturday, Nov. 6-7 at Carrollton High School.

“We’re glad that the season is almost here,” FPD head girls coach Holly Scott said. “All of our athletes have put in a lot of hard work in the offseason. It will be fun to see everyone compete this fall.”

A schedule and times are available below and on the Cross Country Boys and Girls Homepage. Times are subject to change.

A final middle school and junior varsity schedule will be available in the coming weeks.
