Eight Baseball Players Catch All-Middle Georgia Honors

MACON, Ga. – Eight FPD varsity baseball players have been named to the Macon Telegraph’s All-Middle Georgia Baseball Team, announced Saturday, June 20.

“All of the guys on our team made an impact this past year,” FPD head coach Denny Bryant said. “To have these eight selected is an honor for our school and our baseball program.”

Highlighting the list was Second-Team selection Austin Cox, who signed a national letter of intent to play collegiately at Mercer University in 2015-16.

The southpaw finished his senior season with a 7-3 record and a 2.20 ERA. He racked up 80 strikeouts and walked just 15 batters over 50 innings pitched.

“Austin is competitor,” Bryant said. “He was one of the team leaders for us this past season. His numbers speak for themselves. He will be sorely missed next season.”

Seven Vikings were named Honorable Mention: Marshall Lyles (Class of 2015), Tyler Stubbs (2015), Kevin Moreau (2015), Sam Jones (2015), Gavin Bloodworth (Fr.), Will McCormick (Jr.) and Bo Fricks (Jr.).

“We are proud of all these student-athletes,” Bryant said. “We hope this sets the bar for future generations of FPD baseball players as we seek excellence on the field and in the classroom.”

The Vikings finished  the 2015 campaign at 17-6 en route to a first round showing in the GHSA Class-A State Tournament.
