Three Lady Vikings Earn All-Middle Georgia Tennis Honors

MACON, Ga. – Three members of the Lady Vikings tennis team have been awarded for their stellar play throughout the 2015 season.

Mary Madison Foshee, Ruth Samuel and Yuka Yokoyama each landed a spot on the Macon Telegraph’s All-Middle Georgia Girls Tennis Team, announced Thursday, June 18.

“We are proud of these three young ladies,” FPD head tennis coach Derek Lashley said. “They worked hard all season long and are well deserving of this honor. Not only are they great tennis players, but they represent their school, classmates and family extremely well. They are to be commended.”

Foshee was named to the singles First-Team. She played the majority of her senior season at no. 2 singles and finished the Camden County Invitational and Middle Georgia Invitational with an undefeated record.

“Mary Madison was one of our strong-hold’s,” Lashley said. “Her tennis fundamentals are top notch and she always offered an uplifting word to her teammates and opponents.”

Sophomores Yuka Yokoyama and Ruth Samuel notches a spot on the doubles First-Team as well.

The duo finished the 2015 season at an impressive 19-1 and went undefeated in the GHSA Class-A Area-1 Private Tournament.

“Having a great doubles team is important,” Lashley said. “Both Yuka and Ruth are competitors and they feed off each other very well.”

The Lady Vikings finished the 2015 season at 16-4 en route to a third place finish at the Area-1 Private Tournament.
