Girls and Boys Cross Country 4th at Strong Rock Invite

LOCUST GROVE, Ga. – The FPD varsity cross country teams were in action at the Strong Rock Christian School Invitational on Saturday morning, Oct. 3, with the Vikings and Lady Vikings each grabbing a fourth place spot overall.

In the girls meet, FPD’s McKenzie Peterson crossed the finish line in sixth place overall at 22:16. Behind her in 11th was Mary Jone Bonfim at 23:30.

The boys meet saw the Vikings place fourth out of the nine teams competing.

Cooper Martin led the team with a 16th place finish at 19:32 while Dylan Bridges timed in at 19:38 in 21st overall.

“I’m really proud of all the varsity and junior varsity teams,” head boys coach Shane Hall said. “They all showed up to a cold and very wet race that wasn’t on our radar a week ago and gave it their all. Almost everyone exceeded their time goals for the day and as a coach you can’t ask for anything more than that.”

Complete results from the race are available on the Georgia MileSplit Meet page.

FPD cross country is back in action Friday-Monday, October 9-12, traveling to the Walt Disney World Classic at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex.

The varsity girls will race at 3:50 p.m. on that Saturday while the varsity boys will follow at 4:40 p.m.
