Softball Jumps to No. 2 in Fifth GHSA Class-A Private Power Ratings

THOMASTON, Ga. – The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) released the fifth edition of the Class-A Softball Private Power Ratings on Tuesday, Oct. 6 with the FPD Lady Vikings ranking in at second overall in the polls.

The no. 2 rating is second time this season the Lady Vikings have been ranked second.

The ratings are used to determine the Top-16 teams from Class-A Public and Private. At season’s end, those teams advance to the GHSA Class-A State Tournament.

The Lady Vikings (18-5, 6-2 Reg. 7) ranked in at 14.38, just less than point behind no. 1 Tattnall Sqaure (15.19). Third belongs to Brookstone at 13.98 and fourth place is Stratford Academy at 13.55. Rounding out the Top-5 is ELCA at 12.22.

The Lady Vikings, winners of four straight, return to the diamond on Tuesday, Oct. 6 for the first round of the Region 7-A Tournament, taking on Lincoln County at GMC Prep in Milledgeville, Ga. at 5 p.m.

A win on Tuesday, would mean FPD plays the winner of the GMC Prep/Mount de Sales game on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. at GMC.

If the Lady Vikings win both games, they would play for the Region 7-A Championship, set for Thursday Oct. 8.

Times, opponents and location of that game will be determined later in the week.
