Lady Vikings Open 2016 Season with Convincing 11-1 Victory over Jones County

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity girls soccer team wasted little time getting in the win column in its 2016 season opener on Friday night, defeating the Jones County Lady Greyhounds 11-1 in non-area play at the FPD Soccer Complex.

By halftime, the Lady Vikings had scored four goals while holding the Lady Greyhounds score goals.

FPD’s first half scores came via Jansyn Samples, who netted two goals, while Alyssa Dubose and Maggie Johnston each scored.

Johnston also aided her teammates in the first half, garnering two assists. Elizabeth Nelson and Lily Peavy also added an assist in the first period.

In the second half, the Lady Viking barrage continued, scoring seven goals and while allowing one.

Johnston netted two and Samples added another to each finish with hat tricks. Karsten Herron scored both of her goals in the second half along with a goal apiece from Nelson, Molly Lee, and Sadie Frame.

Nelson added another assist to finish with two for the match. Lee, Kate Patterson, Herron and Frame also notched one assist.

The Lady Vikings out-shot the Lady Greyhounds 21-3 on the night.

FPD keeper Caylee Ann Sutton allowed one goal to Jade Washington en route to picking up one save. Lady Greyound goalie Megan Spence snagged one save as well.

The Lady Vikings are off for nearly two weeks before returning to action on Wednesday, Feb. 24, taking on Putnam County on the road at 7 p.m.
