Vikings Kick-off 2016 Campaign with 1-1 Draw Against Jones County

MACON, Ga. – It wasn’t a win or a loss, but instead, a 1-1 tie to open up the 2016 FPD varsity boys soccer season on Friday night against the Jones County High School Greyhounds at the FPD Soccer Complex in non-area play.

Both teams struggled scoring early in the contest, playing to a 0-0 tie at halftime.

In the second half, the Vikings (0-0-1) and the Greyhounds each added a score.

With less than 22 minutes to play, the Vikings netted a goal from Noah Lyu while the Greyhounds punched one in from Ethan Oulsnlam on a penalty kick.

Both teams fired off plenty of shots, with FPD holding the advantage 14-11.

FPD keeper Dontrez Johnson picked up eight saves in draw while Jones County goalie Cory Dixon nabbed 10.

The Vikings return to action after a lengthy break on Feb. 25 in the opening round of the Viking Cup at the FPD Soccer Complex against West Laurens at 6 p.m.
