Boys Soccer Suffers First Loss of 2016 at Veterans 3-1

KATHLEEN, Ga. – The FPD varsity boys soccer team (2-1-2) dropped its first match of the 2016 season on Wednesday night to the Veterans High School Warhawks 3-1 in non-region action.

Both teams battled to a 0-0 tie at halftime, but the Warhawks outscored the Vikings 3-1 in the second period to claim the win.

DeAngelo Hall, Logan Luque and Garrett Roff all netted goals for the Warhawks in the victory.

FPD’s lone goal of the match cam via the foot of Dane Wiggins on an assist from Spencer Ennis.

The Warhawks controlled the offensive tempo of the game, holding a 21-8 shot advantage at the end of the contest.

FPD keeper Dontrez Johnson snagged three saves in the loss and Veterans goalie scooped up five in the winning bid.

The Vikings are back in action next week on Wednesday, March 9 to open Area-2 play against St. Anne Pacelli.

Kickoff in Columbus, Ga. is set for 5:30 p.m.
