Tattnall Trojans Take Down FPD Vikings 10-0 in Region 7-A Contest

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity baseball team (10-5, 3-2 Reg. 7-A) dropped its GHSA Class-A Region-7 contest on Tuesday night, March 22, falling 10-0 to the Tattnall Square Academy Trojans (11-3, 5-0 Reg. 7-A) 10-0 at Ben Harden Memorial Field.

The Trojans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top half of the first inning when Austin Granger singled home Nick DiPonzio for a 1-0 lead. Tattnall added one more run when Blake Simmons drove a single to center field to plate Tyler Warnock.

From there, the Trojans had plenty of offense behind starting pitcher Cory Bartholomew, who tossed six innings and totaled six strikeouts while allowing two hits.

Tattnall padded its lead late by scoring eight runs over the final three innings.

Garrett Houston finished with three RBI for the Trojans and Logan Simmons plated two runs as well.

Austin Hartley took the loss for FPD on the hill, allowing five runs on eight Trojan hits. Daniel Weaver allowed four runs in relief and Garrison Hotchkiss allowed one score.

The Vikings’ two hits came via a double from Jack Sawyer and Ryan Jones single.

FPD will look to get back on the winning track on Wednesday, March 23, traveling to Perry High School for a non-region game at 5:55 p.m.

The Vikings fell to the Panthers back on Feb. 24 at home 14-7.
