Boys and Girls Soccer Downed by Pike County Pirates 2-1

ZEBULON, Ga. -The FPD varsity boys and girls soccer teams hit the road on Monday night to take on the Pike County High School Pirates and Lady Pirates in non-area action.

In the boys contest, the Vikings (8-7-2) dropped a 2-1 decision to the Pirates.

All the scoring took place in the first half, with Pike’s Eric Sterm hitting two goals and FPD’s Dane Wiggins netting one goal off an assist from Spencer Ennis.

Pike County edged FPD in shots 16-13 on the night.

FPD keepers Josh Raines and Roy Shen each picked up one save in the defeat.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings trailed 1-0 at halftime and allowed a second half goal.

The Lady Vikings (11-1-2) scored their lone goal of the match off the foot of Jansyn Samples.

Lady Viking keeper Caylee Ann Sutton picked up six saves while Lady Pirate goalie Brooke Shavers nabbed three.

Both squads were even on shots taken on the night at 9-9.

The Vikings and Lady Vikings are back in action on Friday, April 22 for Senior Night 2016.

Kickoff for the girls match is set for 5 p.m. with the boys to follow after the Senior Night ceremony in between matches at 7 p.m.
