Girls and Boys Soccer Split with Brookstone in Area Play on the Road

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The FPD varsity girls and boys soccer teams were in action on Friday night, April 15, in Area-2 action, traveling to the Brookstone School to take on the Lady Cougars and Cougars.

In the girls match, the Lady Vikings (11-0-3, 4-0 Area-2) claimed a convincing 5-1 victory.

FPD led 1-0 at halftime after a goal by Elizabeth Nelson.

In the second period, the Lady Viking offense fired on all cylinders, scoring four goals while allowing just one. Nelson added another score while Maggie Johnston, Emma Lako and Kennedy Cauley each netted one.

The Lady Vikings out-shot the Lady Cougars 15-5 en route to the win.

Brookstone’s lone goal came off the foot of Abby Beaver.

In the boys match, the Vikings seemed in control for a win after leading 1-0 at intermission with a goal from Henry Middlebrooks which was assisted Carter Cousson.

But in the second time, the Cougars scored three goals while FPD punched in just one score from Austin Cox to take the win.

According to reports, the Cougars scored with no time on the clock to win 3-2.

Both FPD soccer squads return to action on Monday, April 18, traveling to Pike County for non-area games at 5:30 p.m. (boys) and 7:30 p.m. (girls).
