Viking Recap: Lady Vikings Set Records, Finish Fifth at GHSA State Track Meet

ALBANY, Ga. – The FPD varsity girls track and field team had a record-breaking Saturday at the GHSA State Track Meet on May 7, with multiple Lady Vikings placing high in different events.

“We close out the season the way we wanted to,” FPD head girls track and field coach Walker Middlebrooks said. “I’m proud of their effort and commitment all season. It was definitely a job well done by all them representing our entire team.”

The following individuals placed at the GHSA Class-A State Meet:

— Carson Dingler – 1st – Pole Vault (13-2) **New state record for all classifications
— Madison Griffin – 2nd – Pole Vault (10-00)
— Maggie Johnston – 1st – Discus (144-05); 7th – Shot Put (38-08) ** New school record
— Peyton Worsham – 5th – Triple Jump (33-03.5)
— Emma Lako – 6th – 300m Hurdles (49.09)
— Sadie Frame – 7th – 100m Hurdles (17.25)
— Christiny Reeves – 8th – Long Jump (16-00)

“These girls definitely helped set the bar for our season,” Middlebrooks said. “I look forward to next year and the team we will have. I thank our entire senior class this year for their leadership in making us better as a team.”
