Softball Soars Past Veterans Lady Warhawks 4-1 in Extra Innings

KATHLEEN, Ga. – The FPD varsity softball team (7-2) came from behind on Thursday night, August 25, defeating the Veterans High School Lady Warhawks (2-7) 4-1 in eight innings.

Amanda Evans notched the game-winning single in the eighth inning to score Karsen Ochs.

Abbey Surrels and Carli Sutton also added insurance in the frame with an RBI each.

FPD trailed 1-0 after one inning when Kenly Sullivan doubled home Skyler Welford for Veterans.

The Lady Vikings tied the contest at 1-1 in the top of the third on an Allie Parkerson double to plate Sadie Frame, who bunted for a single earlier in the inning.

FPD pitcher Karsen Ochs and Veterans hurler Jenna West would battle the final four scoreless innings of regulation to force extras.

Ochs (5-0) picked up the win for the Lady Vikings to remain undefeated on the year. The righty allowed just three hits and struck out eight batters.

The Lady Vikings out-hit the Lady Warhawks 10-3 in the contest.

FPD is back on the diamond quickly, traveling to Pike County High School on Friday, August 26. First pitch against the Lady Pirates is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Zebulon, Ga.

The Lady Vikings defeated the Lady Pirates at the FPD Softball Complex 9-0 in five innings on August 15.
