Volleyball Earns Split at Home with West Laurens and Warner Robins

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity volleyball team hosted the West Laurens High School Lady Raiders and the Warner Robins High School Lady Demons on Thursday night, August 25, in non-region action at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.

The Lady Vikings earned a split on the night, gaining a 2-1 victory [22-25/26-24/25-12] over the Lady Raiders before falling to the Lady Demons 1-2 [26-24/25-27/11-25] in the nightcap.

The Lady Vikings racked up 22 kills against the Lady Raiders, the most coming from Lundy Lader’s 10. Caitlin Farr, Mary Persons, Kirsten Beach and Mackenzie Johnson also notched three kills each.

FPD was busy on the defensive side as well, totaling 32 digs in the match.

Emily Cox finished with seven digs, while Anna Massey and Johnson notched six.

Cox also led the team in aces with three.

In the final match of the night, the Lady Vikings appeared to be set for a home sweep, taking the first game from Warner Robins 26-24. But the Lady Demons came back two straight (27-25 and 25-11) to hand FPD it’s fourth loss of the season.

Sophie Seneker finished with 17 digs in the match while Lader and Johnson combined for 13 kills.

The Lady Vikings will return to the court on Monday, August 29, traveling to Taylor County High School.

First serve is set for 4:30 p.m.
