Softball Soars Past Northside Lady Eagles 8-2

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity softball team (11-3) pushed its winning streak to three games on Wednesday night, defeating the 6A Northside High School Lady Eagles (3-10) 8-2 at the FPD Softball Complex in non-region play.

Katie Culver was 4-for-4 with three RBI’s for the Lady Vikings. The senior totaled two singles and two doubles in the victory.

Allie Parkerson also drove in three runs, including a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.

FPD jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning with back-to-back RBI doubles by Carli Sutton and Culver.

An inning later, the Lady Vikings added four runs.

Amanda Evans doubled to bring in Cassie Sutton (running or Ochs) and Emily Rutledge to give the Lady Vikings a 4-0 lead.

After Abbey Surles advanced to first on a dropped strikeout, Culver blasted a two-out 2-RBI double to plate Evans and Surles for a 6-0 lead.

The Lady Eagles touched home twice in the top of fifth on a double by Sam Cannon that brought in Maison Ripperger and Deja Cheatham.

Parkerson then blasted a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to put the game away for good.

The Lady Vikings out-hit the Lady Eagles 10-5 in the contest while both teams had two errors.

With Wednesday’s win, the Lady Vikings lead the overall series against the Lady Eagles 4-1.

FPD returns to action quickly, traveling across town to take on region rival Tattnall Square Academy in GHSA Class-A Region 7 play.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday.
