Volleyball Earns Split on the Road at West Laurens

DEXTER, Ga. – The FPD varsity volleyball team (16-11) picked up a split on the road on Monday night, defeating West Laurens High School 2-1 in three sets [25-16/19-25/25-17] before falling to Lee County High School 0-2 [25-27/17-25].

In the first match of the night, Lady Vikings went up 1-0 with 25-16 win in the first set against the Lady Raiders of West Laurens.

The Lady Raiders forced a third set by taking the second 25-19, but FPD took the deciding third set 25-17 for the win.

Mackenzie Johnson led the team with 10 of FPD’s 21 kills in the match.

Emily Cox and Bailey Ruble each had six digs while Morgan Mulis and Sophie Seneker added five each.

Caitlin Farr paced the team with seven aces. Lundy Lader added three while Emmie Cate Powell totaled two.

FPD finished with four blocks in the win with Kailey Bohan, Farr, Johnson and Powell each recording one.

In the second match of the night against the Lee County Lady Trojans, FPD fell in two sets 25-27 and 17-25.

Powell and Seneker each netted three aces in the loss while Farr led the squad with five kills.

Johnson finished with two blocks and two digs as well.

The Lady Vikings are back in action quickly, taking on arch-rival Stratford Academy on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. at Stratford’s Grady Smith Gymnasium in Macon.
