Volleyball Serves Up 2-0 Shutout at Stratford

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity volleyball team (17-10) took down the Stratford Academy Eaglettes 2-0 on Tuesday night at Stratford’s Grady Smith Gymnasium.

FPD took the first set in extra points 27-25 before pulling away in the second set 25-21 for the match victory.

In the first set FPD led 24-19 before the Eaglettes came back to force extra points.

FPD wold hold steady and win the first set 27-25.

Mackenzie Johnson and Lundy Lader paced FPD with three kills each in the first set.

Mary Persons, Emily Cox and Morgan Mullis had one ace each as well.

On the defense, FPD totaled four digs in the first set, with Kirsten Beach, Bailey Ruble, Cox  and Mullis totaling one apiece.

Kailey Bohan led the squad with two blocks in the first game.

In the second set, the Lady Vikings prevailed 25-21 to take the match win.

Johnson and Beach totaled five of FPD’s eight kills in the set while Sophie Seneker picked up two aces.

The Lady Vikings had 16 digs in the second set against the Eaglettes, paced by Cox’s four.

Mullis and Johnson each had three digs and Ruble recorded a block in the game-winning set.

The Lady Vikings are back in action on Thursday, Sept. 22, traveling to Veterans High School for matches against Mount de Sales and Veterans.

First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Kathleen, Ga.
