Volleyball Takes Down Tattnall, Falls to Aquinas on the Road

AUGUSTA, Ga. – The FPD varsity volleyball team hit the road on Tuesday, Sept. 6, traveling to Aquinas High School for a match against the Tattnall Square Lady Trojans and the host Aquinas Lady Fightin’ Irish.

In the first match, FPD (10-5) claimed a 2-0 victory, winning back-to-back sets 25-12 and 25-4.

FPD totaled 15 aces, seven digs and six kills in the match.

Caitlin Farr led the squad with seven aces, Mackenzie Johnson with three digs and Morgan Mullis, Emmie Cate Powell and Sophie Seneker with two digs.

In the nightcap, FPD fell to the Lady Fightin’ Irish in three sets 1-2, falling in game one 18-25 but forcing a game three with a 25-21 win in the second set. The third set was a close battle, but the Lady Vikings were dropped 25-20.

FPD was on the defensive stop for most of the match, finishing with 15 digs. Seneker totaled five digs while Johnson and Powell each carded three.

Johnson and Kirsten Beach had five and four kills in the loss, respectively.

The Lady Vikings finished with just two aces for the match, both coming from Farr.

The Lady Vikings return home on Thursday, Sept. 8, hosting ELCA and Harris County at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.

Opening serve is scheduled for 5 p.m.
