Win Streak to 13 as Softball Shuts Out Stratford 2-0

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity softball team continues to roll.

The no. 1 ranked Lady Vikings (21-3, 8-0 Reg. 7-A) picked up their 13th consecutive win, a new program record in the GHSA era, defeating the arch-rival Stratford Academy Eaglettes (18-4, 4-4 Reg. 7-A) 2-0 at the FPD Softball Complex on Tuesday night.

FPD pitcher Carli Sutton (9-2) and Stratford pitcher Tori Dover (14-4) battled for four scoreless innings.

The Eaglettes went down in order in the top of the fifth and in the bottom portion Allie Parkerson singled home Gracie Slade and Sadie Frame to give FPD a 2-0 lead.

Karsen Ochs came in to pitch for the Lady Vikings in the sixth and seventh inning to pick up her second save of the season.

Ochs retired the side in order in the sixth but allowed two singles in the seventh with one out to give the Eaglettes hope.

Ochs then hunkered down and struck out Ashlin Jackson followed up by a ground out by Hannah Lovett to end the game.

Both teams totaled five hits in the contest. The Eaglettes tallied two errors while the Lady Vikings were tagged for one miscue.

With the win, FPD takes the season series over Stratford 2-0 (FPD defeated Stratford 10-2 on the road on Sept. 13).

FPD also improves its record against Stratford in GHSA play. The Lady Vikings lead the series 6-1.

The Lady Vikings are back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 28, hosting the Veterans High School Lady Warhawks in non-region action.

FPD defeated Veterans 4-1 in eight innings one August 25 in Kathleen, Ga.
