Volleyball Places Third in Class-A Area 7 Tournament, Advances to State

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity volleyball team (19-15) was in action this past Saturday, hosting the Area-7 Tournament at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.

The Lady Vikings, playing as the no. 3 seed, dropped its first round match to the no. 2 seeded Aquinas High School Fightin’ Irish 0-2 [21-25/23-25].

In the consolation match against the no. 4 seeded Stratford, the Lady Vikings came from behind to take the match 2-1.

FPD dropped its first set 21-25, but won the final two sets 25-13 and 25-23 in thrilling fashion.

Lundy Lader and Emily Cox were named to the All-Area 7 Team for their play in the tournament.

The Lady Vikings will now focus on the GHSA Class-A State State Tournament, set for Thursday, Oct, 14.

FPD, the no. 3 seed from Area-7, will travel to Gordon Lee, the no. 2 seed from Area-4, in is first round playoff match on Thursday, Oct. 13.

First serve is set for 5 p.m. at Gordon Lee High School.
