Middle Georgia Swimming Championship Recap: Girls 1st, Boys 2nd

MACON, Ga. -The FPD varsity swim teams hosted the Middle Georgia Championship on Friday night, Jan. 20, at the Northside Pool and posted one of its best finishes since moving to the GHSA.

The Lady Vikings took first place, earning the Middle Georgia State Championship. FPD edged out Stratford Academy 193-191 to take the title.

Vivianna Chang posted several first place finishes and will represent FPD at the GHSA State Meet later this month.

In the boys meet, the Vikings finished as the Middle Georgia State Runner-Up with 189 points. Stratford placed first with 201 points.

For the first time in program history since moving to the GHSA, the Lady Viking and Vikings will be taking a relay team to the GHSA State Meet.

The girls 200-Yard Freestyle relay qualified with a time of 1:52.97, consisting of Vivianna Chang, Bethany Martinez, Madelyn Baltz, and Sophie Seneker.

The boys 200-Yard Freestyle relay qualified with a time of 1:39.87 made up of Dane Wiggins, Austin Murray, Alex Bercik, and Hanny Marone.

The GHSA State Meet is scheduled for Feb. 2-4 at Georgia Tech’s Recreation and Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
