Boys Basketball Draws Riverside Military in First Round of GHSA A-Private State Tournament

MACON, Ga. – The GHSA released the 2017 Class-A Private Boys State Tournament bracket on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 15.

The FPD Vikings (15-7) will be the no. 10 seed in the 2017 tournament and will host the first round of the state playoffs for the first time in the program’s GHSA era.

FPD will take on the no. 23 seeded Riverside Military Academy Eagles (9-13) from Gainesville, Ga. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m. at Coach Mac’s Court at the Middlebrooks Athletic Center.

The state tournament appearance is the second in the GHSA era for boys basketball. Hosting a GHSA state playoff marks the first time in program history as well.

The Vikings fell in the first round last year at Greenforest.

The Eagles lead the all-time series against the Vikings 2-0.

The last meeting came in Feb. 2008 when the Vikings fell 65-46 in GISA AAA State Tournament.
