Boys Soccer Earns 2-2 Draw with Putnam County in Viking Cup Opener

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity boys soccer team (1-1-1) battled to a 2-2 draw against the Putnam County Eagles on Monday afternoon, Feb. 27, in the first day of the 2017 Viking Cup at the Girardeau Field House at the FPD Soccer Complex.

FPD trailed at intermission 2-1 but Henry Middlebrooks nailed the equalizer in the second period to tie the match at 2-2.

Putnam County was led by the two goals of Dixon.

The Vikings got on the board in the first half when Robert Johnson found Stephen Summerow for a goal to pull within one at 2-1.

The Vikings were out-shot 18-5 in the match.

Joshua Raines picked up nine saves in goal for FPD. Perez tallied one for Putnam County.

The Vikings return to Viking Cup action on Tuesday, Feb. 28, hosting Strong Rock Christian School at 5:45 p.m. at FPD.
