Girls Basketball Earns Bye in First Round GHSA Class-A Private State Tournament

MACON, Ga. – The GHSA released the 2017 Class-A Private Girls State Tournament bracket on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 15.

The Lady Vikings (18-6) will be the no. 7 seed in the 2017 State Tournament and earned a Bye in the first round.

FPD will host the winner of no. 10 Prince Avenue and no. 23 Athens Christian next week, Feb. 22-23.

Date and time of game will be announced at a later date.

FPD’s rank at no. 7 is the highest in program history in the state tournament in the GHSA era. Hosting a state playoff game is also a first for the Lady Vikings since moving to the league in 2010.

This year marks the fourth year the Lady Vikings have qualified for postseason play in the GHSA State Tournament.

FPD fell to St. Francis last year in the first round (Sweet 16).

Check back here for future updates on date and time of game.

Updates will also be posted on the FPD Girls Basketball homepage and on @FPDVikingSports on Twitter.
