Lady Vikings Advance to Region 7 Tournament Championship with 41-33 Victory over Tattnall

MACON, Ga. – For the first time since 2014, the FPD Lady Vikings (18-5) are going back to the Region 7, 1A Tournament Championship game.

The Lady Vikings defeated Tattnall Square (15-10) 41-33 on Friday afternoon, Feb. 10, 41-33 in the Region 7 Tournament Semifinals at Stratford’s Grady Smith Gymnasium to advance to the title game.

FPD will play Stratford Academy in the Region 7, 1A Tournament Championship game on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. The Eaglettes knocked off the Wilkinson County Lady Warriors 50-28 in other semifinal action.

The Lady Vikings, who have now beaten the Lady Trojans three consecutive times this season, led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter and ramped up the defensive pressure in the second period en route to a 13-6 quarter to lead 20-12 at halftime.

FPD added to its lead with a 10-9 run in the third period for a 30-21 advantage.

The Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Vikings 12-11 in the final period but the run was too little too late.

Kate Patterson netted a game-high 18 points while teammate Molly Lee scored 11 points in the victory.

Bailey Ruble finished with eight points as well.

The Lady Trojans were led by the 10 points of Allie Gordon. McKenzie Sams finished with seven points.

With Friday’s victory, the Lady Vikings have now won five straight.

Patterson’s 18 points moves her closer to fourth on the all-time scoring list at FPD. The senior needs 11 points to tie Kelli Barnes (98) for fourth place.
