Baseball Drops Seventh Straight as Tattnall Claims 16-2 Region Win

MACON, Ga. – The FPD varsity baseball team (8-9-1, 1-3-1 Reg. 7/1A) dropped its seventh straight game on Tuesday night, falling to the Tattnall Square Academy Trojans (13-1, 5-0 Reg. 7/1A) 16-2 in five innings at Ben Harden Memorial Field.

The Vikings led 2-0 at the end of two inning with RBI single from Ryan Jones and Jackson McCart.

But in the third inning momentum shifted quickly.

The Trojans plated 10 runs in the third inning highlighted by a three-run home run by Logan Simmons to give Tattnall a 3-2 lead.

Simmons doubled later in the frame to bring in two more runs for a 10-2 Tattnall advantage.

The Trojan attack continued in the fourth inning as well, scoring three runs.

With the bases loaded, Luke Laskey smashed a double to clear the bases for a 13-2 Trojan lead.

Tattnall added three more in the fifth frame to bring the run-rule into effect with two-run double by Austin Marchman to give the Trojans a 15-2 lead.

Marchman later scored on a single by Brooks Gorman to lead 16-2.

Garrett Houston (3-0) picked up the win on the mound for Tattnall.

The righty tossed a complete game, allowing two runs and striking out five.

Garrett West (1-2) was charged with the loss for FPD.

Both teams return to play on Friday, March 24, as the Vikings travel to Tattnall to close out the season series.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
