Girls Soccer Downs St. David’s, Boys Drop to Augusta Christian in Day One of Border Classic

EVANS, Ga. – The FPD varsity soccer teams competed in day one of the TaxSlayer Border Classic hosted by Greenbrier High School on Thursday, March 16, at Blanchard Woods Park.

The Lady Vikings (9-0) kept their unbeaten streak alive with a 3-0 victory over St. David’s Catholic.

FPD led 3-0 at halftime and held St. David’s scoreless the entire match.

With the shutout, the Lady Vikings have now recorded shutouts in every match this season while outscoring opponents 70-0.

In Thursday’s match, Emma Lako netted two goals while Jansyn Samples tallied one score.

Elizabeth Nelson finished with two assists and Karsten Herron picked up one dime.

The Lady Vikings out-shot St. David’s 11-2 in the match. FPD keeper Caylee Ann Sutton recorded one save in the winning bid.

The Vikings (3-3-3) dropped its opening match of the Border Classic to Augusta Christian 1-0.

FPD finished with just two shots in the loss.

Both squads return to action on Friday, March 17, in day two of the Border Classic.

The Vikings battle Augusta Prep at 3 p.m. followed by the Lady Vikings taking on Aquinas at 6 p.m.
