Baseball Takes Down GMC Prep 10-3 on Senior Night

MACON, Ga. – After a tough 3-1 loss on Tuesday night vs. Stratford, the FPD varsity baseball team (13-11) responded nicely with a convincing 10-3 victory over the GMC Prep Bulldogs on Wednesday night, April 12, at Ben Harden Memorial Field on Senior Night 2017.

Gavin Bloodworth provided plenty of offense for the Vikings, finishing the contest at 2-for-3 with four RBI’s.

Bloodworth gave FPD the lead on a two-run triple in the bottom of the first that saw the Vikings take a 3-0 lead.

The Bulldogs bit back in the top of the third, tying the game at 3-3 on a double by Cory Bivins.

The Vikings recaptured the lead in the bottom half of the frame on a wild pitch that played Ryan Jones.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Vikings padded their lead, scoring two more runs to make it a 6-3 contest.

Bloodworth doubled to right field to score Garrett West followed by a Bulldog infield error on a ground ball hit by Austin Hartley to plate Tyler Mimbs.

The Vikings blew the game wide open with a four-run fifth to lead 10-3.

Hartley picked up the win on the mound for the Vikings, tossing a complete game with seven strikeouts, no walks and allowing three runs.

FPD returns to the diamond on Thursday, April 13, traveling to Stratford Academy for a Region 7/1A contest.

First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Bubber Adams Baseball Complex at Bobby Hendley Field.

The Eagles defeated the Vikings 3-1 earlier this week on April 11 at FPD.
