Tuesday’s FPD Sports Recaps: Soccer, Baseball, Tennis and Track

MACON, Ga. – Several FPD varsity athletic teams were in action on Tuesday, April 4.

Recaps and box scores are below.

As a reminder, FPD is closed on Wednesday, April 5, due to forecasted severe weather throughout the day.

All games scheduled for Wednesday have been cancelled.


The Lady Vikings (13-0) remain undefeated after cruising to a 10-0 victory over Manchester High School on Tuesday night, April 4, at the FPD Soccer Complex.

All of FPD’s goals game in the first half of play to reach the mercy rule.

Emma Lako led FPD with three goals while Jansyn Samples and Gracie Matthews knocked in two each. Elizabeth Nelson, Kennedy Cauley and Lindsay Strickland also scored one goal apiece.

The Lady Vikings shutout Manchester on shot attempts, with FPD accounting for 29 in the match.

Lako also had two assists in the victory, while Matthews, Nelson, Alyssa Dubose and Lily Peavy picked up one assist.

The Lady Vikings are back on the pitch on Thursday, April 6, hosting Pike County at 5:30 p.m.


The Vikings (6-4-3) defeated Manchester 5-0 behind the strong play of Noah Lyu.

Lyu scored for of FPD’s five goals on the night en route to the victory. The other goal came off the foot of Stephen Summerow.

Henry Middlebrooks finished with two assists, while Austin Cox and Dane Wiggins recorded one.

After a scoreless first half, the Vikings turned on the burners, scoring all five goals in the second period.

FPD held the shot advantage over Manchester, 39-0.

The Vikings return to play on Thursday, April 6, hosting Pike County at 7:30 p.m. at the FPD Soccer Complex.


The Vikings (10-10-1) picked up a 13-3 victory over the Northside High School Eagles in five innings on Tuesday night at Ben Harden Memorial Field.

With the win, FPD has won two straight to get back to the .500 mark on the season.

FPD led 6-1 at the end of the first inning. The Vikings outscored the Eagles 7-2 over the final four frames to bring the run-rule into effect.

Chet Thompson finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBI’s to pace FPD’s offense.

Gavin Bloodworth also had a strong showing at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a 2-run home run.

Dylan Cox was also 1-for-3 with two RBI’s.

Garrett West picked up the win on the mound for the Vikings, tossing all five innings and striking out seven batters. West did not allow a walk.

The Vikings are back in action on Thursday, April 6, hosting GMC Prep at 6:30 p.m.


The Lady Vikings and Vikings rolled to Area-1 victories over Tattnall Square Academy on Tuesday afternoon, April 4, at the John Drew Smith Tennis Center.

Both squads hit the court next Monday, April 10, hosting St. Anne Pacelli in Area-1 action.

Monday’s match is the final regular season match before the GHSA Class-A Private Area-1 Tournament on Wednesday, April 19.


The Lady Vikings and Vikings hosted the Viking Invitational No. 2 on Tuesday afternoon, April 4, at the Dick Frame Track and Field Complex at George S. Johnson Memorial Stadium.

Both squads took third place in the meet.
