Boys Golf First after Round One of GHSA Class-A Private State Tournament

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Battling on and off rain along with playing on a new course, the FPD varsity boys golf team didn’t let the external factors affect their play.

Instead, the squad posted a team-best 289 to take the lead after the first round of the GHSA Class-A Private State Tournament at Green Island Country Club on Monday, May 22.

FPD leads by nine strokes heading into play on Tuesday for the final round of action and will look to bring home the first golf State Championship in program history since 1979 (as a member of the GISA).

Luke Dasher led the Vikings on the course, firing a 1-under 70.

Wilson Andress completed his round with a 72 (+1) while Wesley Hanson carded a 73 (+2).

FPD’s final counting score came from Jay Spivey’s 74 (+3).

Reid Wilson and Alex Odom shot 78 and 81, respectively.

Brookstone is in second place after shooting 298 on their home course.

Mt. Paran (302), Holy Innocents’ (306) and Athens (308) round out the top-5 scores from the 12-team field.
