FPD Wins Opener Over Central 17-12

Mercer University – The FPD Viking Football team started the 2017 season off with a 17-12 win over the AAA Central Chargers, in the Macon Touchdown Club Middle Georgia Kickoff Classic.

FPD struck first in the 1st quarter with a 21 yard field goal by Andrei Parrish, and they would score again before the end of the first half on a QB sneak by Dalton Cox to take a 10-0 lead into the half.

FPD would extend their lead early in the 4th quarter 17-0 on a 29 yard Touchdown pass from Dalton Cox to Titus Moore.

Central would score two late touchdowns and have a shot at a potential last second win with less than 30 seconds left to go in the game, but  fumbled the ball on a hook and ladder allowing defensive lineman Wesley Wilson to recover and seal the big power points victory for FPD.

Defensively FPD would allow only 45 yards through 3 quarters and force four turnovers in the game (2 INT Maurice Williams & Titus Moore & 2 fumbles Wesley Wilson & Bryant Beall). Overall the FPD Defense would allow only 184 yards of total offense against Central.

On the offensive side of the ball FPD totaled 277 yards of total offense. Josh Raines had 22 carries for 112 yards. Dalton Cox was 9 for 15 for 126 yards and a TD. Titus Moore had a 29 yard Touchdown Reception and interception. Harrison Aulds led all FPD receivers with 2 receptions for 43 yards.

FPD returns home this Friday Sept 1 against Brookstone at 7:30.
