FPD Boys and Girls Cross Country Place in Top 5 at Stratford Meet

FPD Cross Country teams had a strong showing Tuesday afternoon competing at Stratford Academy. The boys placed 2nd out of 15 teams and the girls placed 4th out of 14.

This performance follows Saturday’s meet at the Wesleyan Invitational where both teams placed in the top 10 against stiff competition from much larger GHSA classifications.

Freshman Jack Beeland led all the FPD runners for the second straight meet with a time of 19:18.66 which allowed him to finish 5th overall in the boys. Other top boy runners for FPD included senior Cooper Martin (9th overall), sophomores Jack Hardy (14th overall), Wyatt Hicks (27th overall) and Camden Lashley (29th overall).

For the FPD girls team junior Mia Ferro led with a time of 25:49.10 allowing her to finish 12th overall in the girls. Other top girl runners for FPD included junior Mary Jayne Bonfirm (15th overall), sophomore Anna Grace Reeves (16th overall) and freshman Reese Lefholz (25th overall).

Both teams look continue their early success in the 2017 season Saturday as they travel up to Berry College in Rome to compete in the Berry College Clara Bowl meet.
