Cross Country Competes Hard at Berry College

Rome, GA – The Clara Bowl Invitational at Berry College over Labor Day Weekend featured 40 schools, but only a handful were actually from Class A in GHSA, but that didn’t stop either team from competing.

The Boys would place 2nd out of the 5 Class A schools that would also compete and 34th overall to the much larger teams in the competition.

Freshman Jack Beeland would lead the boys again with a time of 19:12 which also is his fastest of the season. Rounding out the top 5 for FPD who also had their fastest times of the year also were senior Cooper Martin (19:17), sophomores Jack Hardy (19:52), Camden Lashley (20:18), and Wyatt Hicks (20:39).

The Lady Vikings faced even stiffer competition as only one other Class A school competed at the Clara Bowl Invitational but the top 5 Lady Vikings all would post their best times of the 2017 season.

Freshman Reese Lefholz would lead the Lady Vikings Saturday with a time of 24:07 which is her fastest time of the season by a solid minute. Rounding out the top 5 for the Lady Vikings juniors Mia Ferro (24:52), Mary Jane Bonfirm (25:41), sophomore Anna Grace Reeves (25:49), and junior Karsten Herron (27:08).

The Cross Country teams have this week off and return to the trail Tuesday September 12th at the Warner Robins Invite looking to continue their recent success.
