Tennis Looks To Defend Mid-Ga Invitational Title

The 2018 GHSA Tennis season is underway and through the early part of the schedule the FPD Tennis teams have enjoyed success. Just over two weeks ago the new tennis complex was opened and held its inaugural match against Bleckley County. This Friday, FPD’s new complex is set to host the opening round of the Mid-Ga Invitational for the first time against Jones County as both teams look to defend their titles from last season.

Both the boys and girls tennis teams defeated Veterans High Wednesday afternoon 5-0. The boys team remains undefeated on the season and the girls team is finally getting healthy for the first time all season after battling the flu according to Coach Lashley which should allow them to reach their full potential now.

The top performers at this stage of the season for the boys remain undefeated themselves, Juniors Marshall Danner, and Halen Fulk along with sophomore Camden Lashley. For the girls Collier Griffin also remains undefeated.

“The Mid-Ga Invitational will be a tremendous opportunity for our teams,” said Lashley. “It’ll be a great opportunity for our girls to finally play at full strength and be completely healthy, and for our boys to continue their early season momentum.”

The first-round match against Jones County starts at 4:00pm Friday afternoon.
